These particles mark the topic of the sentence.

• Use 은 after words ending in a consonant

• Use 는 after words ending in a vowel

Examples:

• 저는 학생이에요 (As for me, I am a student)

• 한국어는 재미있어요 (As for Korean, it is interesting)

• 책은 테이블 위에 있어요 (As for the book, it is on the table)
